O’Reilly named Distinguished Young Pharmacist

Aimee O’Reilly of Worthington was named 2021 recipient of the Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award by the Ohio Pharmacists Association, it was announced earlier this year.

The award was presented at the association’s 143rd annual conference, April 16-18, where O’Reilly also was installed as president-elect for 2021-22.

The Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award recognizes a pharmacist who has graduated during the past 10 years and made significant contributions to the profession of pharmacy. The award is sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Co.

A graduate of Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy, O’Reilly began practice at Hock’s Tipp City Pharmacy and on staff of the Ohio Pharmacists Association where she was integral in the development of the “How to Open a Pharmacy” manual.

She and her husband did just that with O’Reilly Family Pharmacy in Worthington (February Worthington Spotlight), where she identifies the solution that best suits her patients with prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, durable medical equipment, and/or immunizations.

She has established relationships with several assisted living facilities where she seeks to optimize the medication regimens of their residents.

O’Reilly has provided COVID-19 vaccination clinics for local schools, writes home-study continuing pharmacy education lessons in the Ohio Pharmacist journal, and presents continuing education sessions for pharmacists at OPA meetings.

“Aimee O’Reilly’s commitment to the profession goes well beyond her work responsibilities,” said Ernest Boyd of OPA.

OPA represents more than 4,000 pharmacists, pharmacy educators, and pharmacy students throughout the state.
